After you delete your account, we may retain certain information for up to 7 years as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as maintaining review integrity and defending against legal claims).

5. Your Rights and Choices

5.1 Access and Correction

You can access and update most of your account information through your account settings. If you need assistance, contact us at privacy@client-insight.com.

5.2 Account Deletion and Data Retention

You can request deletion of your account by:

  • Using the account deletion feature in your settings
  • Contacting us at privacy@client-insight.com

Important Data Retention Notice: Upon account deletion, we will remove or anonymize your personal identifiers as required by applicable law. However, to maintain the integrity and quality of our review database, we retain the following information indefinitely:

  • Reviews written by you and about you (with personal identifiers removed/anonymized)
  • Rating history and reputation scores
  • Address verification and change history
  • Transaction and interaction records in aggregated form

This retention policy exists because our platform's value depends on maintaining comprehensive, accurate review histories. Allowing complete deletion would enable users to escape legitimate reviews and undermine the trust that contractors rely on. By using our Service, you acknowledge and consent to this data retention policy.

5.3 Marketing Communications

You can opt out of marketing emails by:

  • Clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any marketing email
  • Adjusting your notification preferences in your account settings

5.4 Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. See our Cookie Policy for more details.

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to Know: You can request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you
  • Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions
  • Right to Opt-Out: You can opt out of the "sale" of your personal information (note: we do not sell personal information)
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

Exceptions to Deletion: Under CCPA §1798.105(d), we may retain personal information necessary to: (1) complete transactions; (2) detect security incidents; (3) exercise free speech or ensure another consumer's right to exercise free speech; (4) comply with legal obligations; (5) engage in research in the public interest; and (6) enable solely internal uses reasonably aligned with consumer expectations. Our review data retention falls under these exceptions as truthful reviews constitute protected speech and serve the legitimate interests of our contractor community.

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@client-insight.com or call us at the number provided below.

7. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Regular security assessments
  • Employee training on data protection
  • Incident response procedures

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
